NEW DELHI – 07th FEBRUARY, 2023 – The Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts organized Awareness Seminar on Safeguards against Cyber Crime and Design, Trends & Forecast at New Delhi on 7th February 2023 (Tuesday).
Shri Raj Kumar Malhotra, Chairman EPCH and Chairman, Northern Region –FIEO; Shri Ravi Passi, Past Chairman, EPCH and Convenor (Northern Region); Shri Sambit Sinha, Partner, Cyber Security, EY; Dr. Karnika Seth, Cyberlaw & Cyber Security Expert; Shri H. S. Randhawa, ACP, Cyber Cell, Delhi Police; Shri Rajesh Rawat – Addl. Executive Director EPCH; Ms. Amla Srivastava, Head Designer – EPCH and leading exporters from New Delhi were present – informed Shri Rakesh Kumar, Director General EPCH.
Shri Raj Kumar Malhotra, Chairman EPCH and Chairman, Northern Region –FIEO welcomed the official from Delhi Police Cyber Cell, Cyber Security Experts and the leading exporters from Delhi. He informed that today’s seminar organized jointly by EPCH and FIEO to facilitate the exporters to understand measures to safeguard business from Cyber Crime and get indepth knowledge of the latest Designs, Trends & Forecasts in Handicrafts. He further said that EPCH has always been at the forefront of organizing a series of awareness seminars through expert faculties on a pan-India basis for member exporters.
Shri Ravi Passi, Past Chairman, EPCH and Convenor (Northern Region), said that in today's business environment, it is critical that new products with cutting-edge designs are developed in accordance with trends and forecasts in order to remain competitive in the international market.
While speaking on the occasion Shri Sambit Sinha, Partner, Cyber Security, EY said that business information is a valuable asset that must be safeguarded against unauthorized modification, and disclosure. Our best line of defense against cybercriminals will always be prevention. He added that technology is a double-edged weapon and one needs to be very careful while using it. He also informed about various techniques of using a virtual keyboard, regular changing of passwords, masked-aadhaar cards, never scanning QR code sent & many other practices as a safeguard against cybercrime.
Dr. Karnika Seth, an expert on Cyberlaw & Cyber Security presented an informative presentation on the origins of cybercrime and the recent increase in cases. She discussed key developments in the field of cyberlaw in Indian jurisdictions. She further explained Indian law regarding information technology through amendments. She further spoke about electronic footprints which are traceable. She also explained various options & remedies for victims of cyber fraud.
Shri H. S. Randhawa, ACP, Cyber Cell, Delhi Police informed that Delhi Police has helped many exporters from New Delhi and adjoining areas against cybercrime. Police are always ready to assist victims of cybercrime and urged them to remain vigilant, aware, and not hesitate to report any such cases. He presented cyber crime status and shared the mechanism to file a complaint to the cyber crime cell. He also shared www.cybercrime.gov.in and helpline number 1930 for immediate action.
Ms. Amla Srivastava, Head Designer – EPCH informed the participants about the emerging trend and designs for 2024 that the global market is looking and manufacturers should prioritise taking into account the most recent trends through which customers are attracted.
Questions pertaining to Design, Trend & Forecast and Cyber Security Ways were asked by the participants. The same was answered by the experts along with inputs on safeguards. Over 60 members attended this seminar and concluded with positive interaction with members exporters.

The Handicrafts exports during the year 2021-22 was Rs. 33253.00 Crores (US $ 4459.76 Million) registering a growth of 29.49% in rupee term & 28.90% in dollar terms over the previous year, informed by Mr. Rakesh Kumar, Director General, EPCH.
